Our story

In 1998, members of Emmaus Free Lutheran, a Bible-believing fellowship worshiping in Bloomington, Minn., sensed a call to plant a new church. Their vision was to extend the life-giving gospel message of salvation in Jesus to an area experiencing population growth within the Twin Cities metro area.

Over the next few years, a core group of people from this fellowship prayed for direction and wisdom. They sensed that the Lord was leading them to St. Michael, a once-sleepy northwest suburb now burgeoning with new homes and businesses as the metro area spread west along Interstate 94. With God’s open door, Living Hope launched its first worship service on Sept. 15, 2002, at the St. Michael-Albertville Middle School East.

In the 20 years since that first service, we have seen Jesus bless our fellowship with the truth, grace, and love of Jesus Christ. In turn, we seek to bless our neighbors in kind. In 2015, after a process filled with countless answers to prayer and many open doors, we purchased the historic St. John’s Episcopal Church building, located west of Rogers on Territorial Road. Today, our ministry continues to strive toward building relationships that change lives and spreading a love for God’s Holy Word. We are members of the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations.
